Yes, the Child Tax Credit (CTC) is worth up to $2,200 per qualifying child for 2025 taxes, with up to $1,700 refundable. However, it’s important to note that the actual amount you may end up receiving depends on your filing status and MAGI (modified adjusted gross income).

If you’re a single filer and your MAGI is less than $200,000 ($400,000 if you’re married filing jointly) you may be eligible for the full $2,200 credit. The CTC amount is reduced by $50 for every $1,000 of MAGI above the limit.

There are some eligibility requirements a child must meet to qualify for the CTC.

  • The child must be younger than 17 by the end of the tax year.
  • The child must be your relative (son, daughter, stepchild, foster child, adopted child, sibling, half sibling, step sibling, grandchild, niece, or nephew).
  • The child must be claimed as a dependent on your return.
  • The child must have lived with you for more than half the year.
  • The child cannot provide more than half of their own support.
  • The child must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or U.S. resident alien, and have a Social Security number.

The CTC is just one of the many tax benefits available for families. Don’t miss a single dollar you’re owed when you file next year. It’s never too early to start planning for your biggest tax refund. Book your appointment today.
