The 2025 Tax Act, otherwise known as the One Big Beautiful Bill, increases the standard deduction for all filers starting in 2025. For single filers and married couples filing separately, it increases to $15,750 from $15,000. For married couples filing jointly, it increases to $31,500 from $30,000. And for those filing as head of household, it increases to $23,625 from $22,500. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act also introduces a new, temporary deduction for seniors that is separate from the standard deduction. From 2025 to 2028, taxpayers who are 65 or older can take an additional separate deduction of up to $6,000, depending on their income level.
