The lottery organization will report your winnings on Form W-2G, Certain Gambling Winnings to both you and the IRS. When you file, you’ll report your lottery winnings on Form 1040, Schedule 1, using Form W-2G. However, the IRS still requires you to report your winnings if you do not receive Form W-2G.

For nonresident U.S. aliens, you’ll report lottery and all other gambling winnings using Form 1040-NR, U.S. Nonresident Alien Income Tax Return.
