PARSIPPANY, N.J. (February 4, 2013) – Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc. (“Jackson Hewitt”), the nation’s second largest tax preparation firm, today announced that it has named Brian Haile as the Company’s first Senior Vice President for Health Policy.

In this newly-created position, Mr. Haile will be responsible for the planning and execution of programs and services surrounding the Affordable Care Act and assisting Jackson Hewitt clients in navigating new tax credit programs and insurance exchanges. He will also serve as a liaison with Federal and state agencies.

Prior to joining Jackson Hewitt, Mr. Haile served as the Director of the Insurance Exchange Planning Initiative of Tennessee, where he worked with the Director of the Bureau of TennCare and the Commissioner for the Department of Commerce & Insurance to advise the Governor on this and related issues related to the federal health reform legislation. In his previous role as the Deputy Director for Benefits Administration, he oversaw the benefit redesign and procurement functions for Tennessee's public employee health plans, which cover 305,000 people. His past experience also includes positions as the Eligibility Chief for the District of Columbia’s Medicaid program and as a consultant at Alicia Smith & Associates, LLC in Washington, DC, as well as research work for the Institute for Health Policy Studies at the University of California, San Francisco and at the HIV Clinical Research Centre in Cape Town, South Africa.

A native Tennessean, Mr. Haile received his bachelor’s degree and a law degree from Georgetown University. He also holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master’s degree in Health Economics from the University of Cape Town (South Africa).
